What I Learned about Statistics
Statistics is termed as a branch of mathematics which basically deals with the collection of data and its subsequent analysis and interpretation both qualitatively and quantitatively. In most of the cases the data is numerical, but there are also cases when the data is non-numerical such as the relationship between objects. I appreciate its usefulness in the field of Research. It is utilized for arriving at a decision about a particular hypothesis. It requires a reasonable time of study to master and understand this subject matter. It plays a big role in the medical field. Before any drugs are prescribed, scientist must show a statistically valid rate of effectiveness. It is quite an indispensible tool in most professions.

During our lecture, I learned so many things like the main branches of statistics, population vs. sample, the types of variables in terms of its qualitative and quantitative nature, levels of measurements as to nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio, the measurements of central tendency – the mean median and mode, the different methods of data interpretation, the measures of variation and Inferential Statistics. Also in this unit, I learned a lot about data organizing, I learned its importance and the different methods to organize data. Data exists everywhere in our life, we use it to count numbers and do many other things, It’ s really helpful to us and no matter what we do with data we need organize it first so statistics is necessary and important.
After our discussion, I can say that without statistics it would be difficult to maintain anything numerical in nature and extremely difficult to go through the daily routines of life. I am eager to learn more about Statistics.
